About me… and you… and trauma

When we go through painful experiences or relationships, it sometimes teaches us to believe something limiting, negative and UNTRUE about ourselves. I want to find out what those beliefs are and what happened to convince you of them. Let’s discover what you truly believe! Maybe you can even start to treat yourself with the kindness and compassion you currently reserve for others.

The way we (me and you) do that is we create a supportive environment where you feel safe exploring your thoughts and feelings. Any expression of gender, spirituality or identity will be affirmed, honored and respected here. I offer the most gentle trauma therapy I can by centering your needs in every moment.

I consider myself a trauma therapist in the most e x p a n s i v e definition of the term, trauma. What I mean by that is some relationships traumatize us without us even knowing, like an ongoing relationship with someone who never listens to us or denies our feelings. Like our relationships with capitalism or patriarchal systems. I see many of the hurtful ways we treat ourselves and negative things we believe about ourselves as resulting from messages (both obvious and hidden) that we receive from others.

I am trained in and frequently use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), parts work and somatic techniques. I take a holistic approach, which means I draw from multiple theories and models, some of which are feminist and client-centered.

I assist folks coping with:

  • Sexual trauma

  • Religious/spiritual trauma

  • High control or coercive relationships
